PAris exhibition of the month

Street Art Madeleine: 80 artists exhibit free of charge in the Madeleine church - From September 13 to 22, 2024

Street Art Madeleine is an exhibition event that brings together the work of 80 artists qualified as vandals, offering a total immersion in the world of street art in the heart of Paris. Discover works by Chanoir, Codex Urbanus, Steeven Salvat, Jérôme Rasto and many others. These artists, known for their unbridled creativity and ability to transform urban space, present nearly 200 original works. In addition to the exhibition, several book signings are scheduled, giving visitors the chance to meet these often discreet creators, active mainly at night.

We invite you to pass beneath the Madeleine church and discover a variety of techniques: drawings, paintings, aerosols, collages, photographs, stencils, mosaics, sculptures and installations. The exhibition stands out for the diversity of its works and the creative freedom of the artists.

Event of the month in Paris

European Heritage Days on September 21 and 22

To mark the occasion, new tours and a wide range of activities are being organized to enable the public to (re)discover familiar sites in a different way, or to enter for the first time sites usually closed to the public, such as the Élysée Palace. Parisian department stores and luxury houses also open the doors of their storerooms or workshops. The Paris Metro organizes tours of its control rooms and ghost stations. Museums, concert halls, monuments, universities, schools, hospitals and many other sites, more or less well-known, are happy to welcome the curious. Visits are always free of charge, and some are only available by prior arrangement.

Restaurant of the month

Laurent

A Parisian institution with stainless-steel charm, Laurent was first Louis XIV's favorite hunting lodge, then a guinguette, then a café du Cirque, before becoming this gastronomic restaurant well known to gourmets. Taken over by Laurent de Gourcuff (behind the Paris Society group) and Michelin-starred chef Mathieu Pacaud last autumn, the place has a new décor designed by Cordelia de Castellane and a beautiful terrace planted with trees. Set in this verdant setting, visitors can order the great classics of French cuisine: croque-monsieur with truffles, green asparagus topped with caviar, lobster salad, sole meunière with buckwheat butter, and a platter of homemade pastries (including a fabulous fraisier). All accompanied by a fine wine list featuring great Bordeaux wines, nuggets of Burgundy and hand-picked champagnes.

Show of the month

Madame Butterfly at Opéra Bastille from September 14 to October 25

Poor Madame Butterfly! The fifteen-year-old geisha who has renounced her family and Japanese traditions for the love of an American lieutenant who neglects her. From this classic theme of a woman seduced and abandoned, Giacomo Puccini crafts an opera of lush orchestration and ardent lyricism. Premiered in 1904 at La Scala in Milan, his score, nourished by oriental colors, translates with intensity the contrast between the brutality of Officer Pinkerton and the vulnerability of Butterfly, as fragile as the wings of a tiny butterfly.
